Other things may cause you to become lost or forget where you just were. However you will still remember what you recently visited. If you leave an area permanently marked on your map you are effectively lost, and will not know where you are relative to your drawn maps until you enter it again. Without compiling this map you have something that at least prevents just going in circles, but doesn't allow you to know where you are relative to locations you visited less recently. With access to the appropriate writing materials, you can then commit this recently visited area to paper and gradually create a complete map, if you want to. I just finished the first level in Exanima and wanted to share the map I drew of it. There are different maps that show the location of keys and more importantly treasure chests. Use google to get a map of the first level. Therefore, it is pretty much filled with spoilers, since any and all secrets, items, chests, trap-esque/special enemies, exits, even the items themselves are booked into that map to the best of my abilities. It really captures the serious risk inherent in fighting and forces you to think. 'I decided to map down of exanimas dungeon, up from the walls right down to the items inside that place. ![]() Essentially you've got auto-mapping that begins to fade as you can only remember so much. Exanima is exactly like that, which is a good thing. The basic concept behind this system is that your character remembers a portion of the most recently visited area. Well, in that case it may please you to know that the devs are currently conceptualizing a mapping system for Exanima. The one thing I hate about Exanima is the absolute insistence on making the player run a maze, without giving them tools to navigate it properly.
